It truly was pure joy to work with this gorgeous newborn baby boy! He nearly slept through his entire session which gave ample opportunity to capture so many beautiful, artistic newborn images. This first time mom and dad drove all the way from Accokeek, Maryland which is all the way over in Prince Georges County. And, we could not have been more delighted and honored to have them come.

This little bundle of baby sweetness was a last minute squeeze-in and at 26 days old, she was much more alert that most of our little newborn babies. But oh how sweet she was! Just look at her precious expression in the first picture! Doesn’t it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?? It does me! I know her proud new mother and father are anxiously awaiting this sneak peek so lets not make them wait one minute more!

I was thinking about title to this post and really wanted to put “spitting image” but without a photo of this little one’s daddy, it would be moot. But, seriously though…in the entire time I have been specializing in newborn photography, I have never seen a brand new baby be such a striking likeness to his daddy! I wish I could show you in this post but you’ll have to settle for the cuter of the two…Baby Nolan. (And, boy do I love his name too!)
Dad’s a huge NY Mets fan so he brought along his mitt and even a David Wright jersey. We used the jersey in a separate portrait but I decided to share this one because I love the colors and I know mom said it would go so well in baby’s nursery.
This portrait below was created using a very special blanket hand made by little Nolan’s great aunt in memory of his Great Grandfather who loved trains. We hung this heirloom-to-be blanket up as a background so all it’s handiwork could be appreciated. What a treasure this will become for this little one.

I am truly a blessed woman. God has blessed me in so many, many ways…there are too many to count. However, one blessing that I can name right now is all the beautiful babies and their families that allow me to reach into their lives for what really is such a brief moment…but one that captures a smile or an expression that will last a lifetime.
And, this family is no exception. It was only 12 short months ago when I met Miss Charlotte Grace when she captivated our hearts. And as beautiful as she was then as a fresh, newborn baby, she is equally beautiful now as she embarks on her second year of life. What joy to see our sweet babies growing up! As I said, I am a blessed woman…enjoy this little beauty!

What fun 6 month old baby sessions are!! We always enjoy playing with babies this age. This little sweetheart’s big sister was here just over two years ago and I can’t help but imagine her being such a good big sister.
Mom & baby came from Dulles, Virginia for some artistic baby photography and we were excited to be able to use a few new props that have been waiting for just the right age baby. Love Miss C’s chubby, rosy cheeks and her sweet piggy toes poking out the doll crib. And just look at her toothless smile! Precious!

Time for a slide show! This brand new mom and dad are from Alexandria, VA but they have family across the United States, as well as abroad, who are anxiously waiting to see this precious little girl.
Baby Tèa’s grandmother will recognize two very special keepsakes in the last portrait. Both the old teddy bear and the “cherry tree” blanket were her own daughter’s childhood lovies. It was our privilege to incorporate them into one of baby Tèa’s portraits…all though I don’t think she noticed as she sleep right through it all tucked down in her basket! What a sweetie! Enjoy!
Oh my! Just look at this little lion in all his cuteness! What a sleepy little fellow he was too. We had so much fun “playing” with him and his furry friends in this basket. He slept for nearly the entire session which gave us loads of time to capture all the precious details of this newborn stage. Mom and dad are going to be so excited to see them all!

This session was so different to our early newborn sessions. Mary and I had so much fun “playing” with this sweet baby girlie from Bethesda Maryland. She was full of heart-melting smiles and just an all around happy, bubbly four month old baby. This little gal’s daddy was unable to come to the investment session so we thought he and other family members would enjoy seeing a little slideshow of mom’s favorite images! Enjoy!!!

What a lovely, lovely couple. I am so blessed to be able to photograph some of the nicest couples during their special time of anticipation. And, here recently, so many of our maternity portrait clients have been coming from the Ashburn / Dulles area… must be something in the water over there!
This couple from Brambleton, VA was no exception… both are super excited about their expected little one. Dad remarked that he was not fond of being in front of the camera but honestly, the camera loves him! Just look at the image below…dad is just awesome! Mom was just gorgeous and a joy to work with too. She was such a cute little thing ~ I wish I looked that awesome at 7 months pregnant.

This newborn baby’s mom & dad commissioned us to create this image for a canvas to hang on a large wall behind their baby grand piano. Mom had noticed the artistic photography which is often featured on the top TV show Extreme Home Makeover and wanted a similar art piece of her baby boy. We were delighted to be able to fulfill her request and we cannot wait to see the canvas when it arrives in the studio!
I love this pose – it really captures the contrast of this tiny newborn in his daddy’s strong hands. Daddy’s are such an important part of a child’s life and I think this pose just speaks volumes, don’t you?
