It truly was pure joy to work with this gorgeous newborn baby boy! He nearly slept through his entire session which gave ample opportunity to capture so many beautiful, artistic newborn images. This first time mom and dad drove all the way from Accokeek, Maryland which is all the way over in Prince Georges County. And, we could not have been more delighted and honored to have them come.

This newborn baby’s family is from right down the road in Gainesville, Virginia so it was a short little ride to the studio for his newborn session. He slept through the first whole hour and hardly made a sound except for these precious little peeps and sweet little baby whimpers. Such a precious baby boy!
So, the second half of the session was a bit different to the first! Baby was happily awake and giving us some of the cutest expressions. Check out this little “happy baby” look! Super cute, right? You betcha!

This little bundle of baby sweetness was a last minute squeeze-in and at 26 days old, she was much more alert that most of our little newborn babies. But oh how sweet she was! Just look at her precious expression in the first picture! Doesn’t it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?? It does me! I know her proud new mother and father are anxiously awaiting this sneak peek so lets not make them wait one minute more!

I was thinking about title to this post and really wanted to put “spitting image” but without a photo of this little one’s daddy, it would be moot. But, seriously though…in the entire time I have been specializing in newborn photography, I have never seen a brand new baby be such a striking likeness to his daddy! I wish I could show you in this post but you’ll have to settle for the cuter of the two…Baby Nolan. (And, boy do I love his name too!)
Dad’s a huge NY Mets fan so he brought along his mitt and even a David Wright jersey. We used the jersey in a separate portrait but I decided to share this one because I love the colors and I know mom said it would go so well in baby’s nursery.
This portrait below was created using a very special blanket hand made by little Nolan’s great aunt in memory of his Great Grandfather who loved trains. We hung this heirloom-to-be blanket up as a background so all it’s handiwork could be appreciated. What a treasure this will become for this little one.

Time for a slide show! This brand new mom and dad are from Alexandria, VA but they have family across the United States, as well as abroad, who are anxiously waiting to see this precious little girl.
Baby Tèa’s grandmother will recognize two very special keepsakes in the last portrait. Both the old teddy bear and the “cherry tree” blanket were her own daughter’s childhood lovies. It was our privilege to incorporate them into one of baby Tèa’s portraits…all though I don’t think she noticed as she sleep right through it all tucked down in her basket! What a sweetie! Enjoy!
This couple have many family members living in other parts of the world so we thought they’d like to see a little slideshow of their precious new family member! Had to add some of mom’s maternity session in as well! Enjoy!

This is a reminder of one of the most joyful times in my life and our “mother/daughter day” at your studio enhanced that feeling
This brand new little one was such a pleasure. He hardly made a peep for being a newborn baby! I told his mom and dad multiple times how truly blessed they are! I was worried they would not be able to make the trip all the way from Arlington, Virginia last week. They were coming the morning after all that severe weather last week but fortunately, all our roads were clear of debris by morning.
This little one came into a family with a rich heritage. His parents chose his middle name to honor a patriot ancestor, named Icem Davis. I love, love, love the name Icem. So unique and then to have a name that honors his family history? Very cool, indeed.
So, for his family who has been so patiently waiting for his sneak peek…enjoy your little blessing!!

We very much enjoyed meeting this little newborn whos family lives in Reston Virginia. Both Mary and I oooo’d and awwwww’d over her gorgeous little head of hair! It was sooo hard to keep from “petting” her head constantly, lol.
All though she enjoyed being awake more than she was asleep, we still managed to coax her to into some slumber for a little bit. I sure hope she does this a bit more for her sweet mommy, who all we moms know, needs a bit more sleep than what she is currently getting. Sleep tight sweet Baby N!

Well, even the threat of wintery weather did not keep this new mommy and daddy from bringing their precious newborn baby girl all the way from Falls Church, Virginia this past Wednesday! When they left the studio, the snow had already started.
Now, on to the sneak peek…what a beautiful baby girl their little princess is! I loved all her itty bitty baby wrinkles and her rosey cheeks and her delicate little lips and nose. She was just all-over-yummy-baby-perfection. Her eye lids and lashes were utterly perfect! That soft lavender color you see on her lids is completely natural ~ lovely, indeed. Either one of these images would make an incredible gallery wrap canvas!
I know this little princess has a doting grandma visiting from out of town ~ so for her and all other proud family members, here’s my two favorite portraits of your newborn angel…

Say hello to our latest newborn baby from Reston, Virginia… she surprised her mother and father by arriving two weeks early! Little Miss “Z” was such a sweetie and was really a joy to pose.
As many of you already know, I love baskets to pose our little newborns in and this is one of my favorties. Look how tiny this little angel looks while nestled all snug in her baby basket. In between set changes, she just continued to sleep all cuddled down in the basket…I hated to move her!

Angela Griffith – That first image is amazing!!!!!
This absolutely beautiful baby girlie was with us yesterday for her newborn session – however, she decided that she did NOT want to miss out on anything. So, she pretty much stayed wide awake for almost the entire session! I had to admit defeat and give her credit for outlasting me. As many of you know, I normally prevail in these situations but on this occasion – not so much!
So, her loving mommy is going drive back from Alexandria, Virginia again next week so we can create those dreamy, sleepy baby portraits that we all adore. In the mean time, the portrait below is the perfect representation of Miss J’s whole visit with us – big beautiful bright eyes and all! And look at her yummy baby cheeks…

This sweet baby boy from the Leesburg Virginia area surprised his mother and father by arriving a bit ahead of schedule. He was so precious and had the softest little head of curls and plump little lips to match ~ perfection! Check out his little sleepy grin – doesn’t that just warm your heart?

This little one’s Mom & Dad decided to not find out if they were having a boy or a girl until delivery day. Secretly, I was hoping for a little girl simply because we have had a ton of baby boys at the studio since January. And so, when mom said she had a little princess, we were very excited to use a few new “girlie” items that we have picked up over the last few months.

I had the pleasure of meeting the sweetest new mom and dad from Culpeper Virginia last week. This is their first baby and you could just feel the pride emanating from them both!
For me personally, I fell head-over-heels in love with this 12-day old little man’s hair. It was sooo soft and just made you want to continually ”pet” him – not to mention cuddle him!
Just look at this precious face with a glorious topping of the softest hair…
