This sweet baby boy from the Leesburg Virginia area surprised his mother and father by arriving a bit ahead of schedule. He was so precious and had the softest little head of curls and plump little lips to match ~ perfection! Check out his little sleepy grin – doesn’t that just warm your heart?
Hope his doting family enjoys their sneak peek. Hope your little blessing is letting you get some night time zzzzzzz’s!

Look at these precious newborn twins from Warrenton Virginia! At two months old, I was concerned that we would not be able to get that “newborn” look that mom really wanted but with persistance and a good pinch of patience, we were able to achieve the “miracle shot” we were looking for!
What a pleasure this little brother & sister where to work with…their mommy, daddy and grandparents are truly “double” blessed. Mom and dad ordered a beautiful gallery wrapped canvas of the second portrait of the twins. We all can’t wait to see it when it arrives…it is going to be amazing in person!

This dad from Ashburn Virginia and his best buds are huge soccer players and fans. So when dad & mom requested that we shoot some dad & baby portraits on his commemorative world cup soccer ball we were happy to oblige. For those of you not into soccer ( as was I ) Ronaldo de Assis Moreira is a Brazilian “footballer” who plays for Italian Serie A club Milan and the Brazil national team.
Ronaldo is commonly known as “Ronaldinho” ~ which is Portuguese for “Little Ronaldo”. He is widely regarded as one of the most gifted footballers of his generation. Well, it looks as if a new generation of soccer stars has been born and you could hardly get an earlier start than 7 days old.
So for mom & dad Donald, your soccer team, friends and fans, here’s a sneak peek of your little Donald or “Donaldinho” !

The second image is especially for the proud new mother… she desperately was hoping we could catch her new baby boy smiling and smile he did!

Just before the snow began to fall last week, this sweet couple and their newborn baby son came from Ashburn Virgina for a newborn portrait art session. What a sweet baby he is! He slept nearly the entire time with only a little squeak now and again. Oh, and his HAIR! Love, love, love his hair!! I had a really hard time keeping my hands off of his soft curls!
Dad is a marine who was home for the birth of his son and must return to the west coast next week so I know he will enjoy seeing this sneak peek of his brand new baby boy!

This sweet family from Leesburg, Virginia brought their precious new baby girl in this week for some creative newborn portraits. Mom was lucky and was able to take advantage of a ”sqeeze-in” session for her 11 day old and all though this little princess was a bit more alert than our normal 5-7 day old newborns, we were still able to capture some precious images of her!
Love the peacefulness in the first image…reminds me of that saying; “she’s sleeping like a baby”. And, the second one - all though not intended to be “Christmassy” - reminds me of a tuckered out little Santa’s helper!
So, here are a couple of my favorite “your baby as {art}”™ captures as a sneak peek for her doting family! Please leave them some blog love below…

Christmas fun for the whole family… including the cat!! This Northern Virginia family returned to the studio for some artistic children’s portraits to use in their photo Christmas cards this holiday season. In addition to the really cool shots we got of Master “S” and his favorite furry friend (who is nearly as big as he is!), we captured some fun family Christmas portraits.
Their Christmas cards turned out totally chic and unique… too bad we can’t show you the whole card here. We don’t want to ruin their friends and family’s surprise of receiving their cards in the mail. Though with Christmas just around the corner you won’t have too long to wait to see the finished cards.
Hope you enjoy this little sneak peek. As always, be sure to leave them some blog love……

If you have not been to the studio for your maternity, newborn or child’s portrait session yet, you have not had the opportunity to see and feel our awesome sterling silver portrait jewelry in “The Boutique.” Wait until you see these pieces in person! Below are just are just a few pieces that we actually have featured on the website in the Galleries entitled Bags & Jewelry.
Wouldn’t these make awesome Mother’s Day gifts? Yes! Be sure to mention this to your dear hubbys’ early as they can take 4 weeks to arrive!

It’s Christmas Eve! Hopefully by now all of your shopping is done and you are finishing up those last minute details. Personally, I am still trying to get some baking and wrapping done and still a little bit of decorating that my kids really enjoy! I’ll get there!
My daughter has asked me this question several times over the last week; “Mom, what do you really want for Christmas?” Without hesitation, I have replied each time, “PEACE.” Not being satisfied with this answer, she wants to know what tangible thing I want but I keep assuring her that all I really want is “PEACE”.
Now, my daughter loves to make little beaded necklaces and bracelets and so I asked her to make me one that said PEACE on it, for Christmas. She did and of course I think it turned out lovely. In addition, my son made a little tissue paper covered candle holder made out of a baby food jar. What better is there than to receive to hand made gifts by your children?
So, to all my dear friends and clients…I pray for PEACE to be in your family this Christmas season. God’s PEACE. For it is only His PEACE that brings calm in a storm or comfort to those who are mourning the absence of a loved one. I pray for PEACE to all the families who are struggling to make ends meet or who need jobs. I pray for PEACE for all our military families. I pray for all the children who will not have any gifts under the tree this year…may God send them His PEACE to assure them that He loves them and that they have received the best gift they could ever receive…the baby in the manger, Jesus our Savior.
In closing, may God bless your homes with His PEACE and may you open your hearts more than ever to celebrate the birth of our Savior! Merry Christmas to all!
If you would like to attend a Christmas Eve service but either do not have a church you regularly attend or yours is not having a service tonight, I invite you to join me at Manassas Assembly of God at 6 p.m. This is always a lovely way to help me refocus on what the Christmas celebration is all about. Come early as it is a popular service. You can visit their website for directions or more details by clicking here.
As promised to both the brand new mom & dad and his proud grandma from Leesburg, Virginia…here is your second sneak peek from yesterday’s newborn portrait session …your baby boy is just so precious! This image would be gorgeous as a wall portrait featuring…“your baby as art” ™.

The last two weeks have been so very busy! We got back from a family vacation to Hatteras, N.C. Then, my kids’ birthdays were this past weekend. In between studio sessions and editing, I peeked at some of my vacation images. I have quite a few favorite images but this has to be one of the top five! My dear friend joined us for a few days and her girls and my kids played themselves silly each and every day at the beach. It was at the end of one of these days that we all took a walk to the end of our rental home’s private board walk to watch the sunset over the sound. I snapped a few of all of the kids sitting and chatting and then some of just my friend’s two girls. I love the way this one turned out…no need for words…just sisters enjoying the end of a long Summer day.

I was thinking today about why it is that I enjoy working in my studio. As many of you know, my studio is in the lower level of my home so as is the case many days, I went upstairs to get some laundry and as I walked down the hall, I glanced over at the family portraits on the wall. I had one of those moments…no, not a senior moment, but the kind of moment when something of the past collides with the present and you realize why what you do is so important to you. You see, the walls of my hall upstairs are adorned with “My Family”. Not my children or my parents but my heritage, my family of the past. I have portraits of my grandparents, great aunts & uncles, my husband’s grandparents and more. They are in all different ages of life and I often stand in front of them and ponder what was going on in their lives at the time those images were captured? What hardships had they endured? What traits and characteristics have they passed down to me and my children?
Portraits from the past help to anchor us to our present and to the future. They give validity to where we have come from and why we are who we are…good or bad. I know for me personally, I am truly thankful for the spiritual heritage of my family…their faith, their prayers for the generations to come. It is humbling to think that some of those prayers are now coming to fruition. I am blessed…truly.
So, I thought I would “introduce” you to some of “My Family”…

I’m looking forward to getting busy again in 2008 after the long holiday break. I was thinking back over all the little cuties that I had the priviledge of working with…So, before moving into 2008 I thought I’d share some of my favorite shots from 2007. I so enjoyed working with each of these babies & children in the studio.
