This Ashburn, Virginia couple are expecting their third baby and have decided to wait and be surprised by their baby girl or baby boy ~ hence the alphabet blocks below!
LOVE the second portrait of this gorgeous momma to be…elegant and sensual with her beautiful baby bump. I sure wish I had looked even remotely this good during my first pregnancy - much less, my third! Wow!
Hope you enjoy your sneak peek “D” family. We can’t wait to be ”surprised” too!!!

If you are in the Northern Virginia or greater Washington D.C. metro area and are interested in celebrating your pregnancy with “your bump as {art}” ™ portraits, contact the studio today.

This week we had the sweetest couple from Ashburn Virginia come to the studio for a newborn baby session. Their new “Little Drummer Boy” was delightful to work with. Dad is a RUSH fan and as such, he brought along his snare drum for me to use as a special prop. I love it when clients share their ideas. The image below is the result and I think we’d all agree that this is the cutest little RUSH fan ever!

Oh my goodness, these precious newborn twins from Vienna, Virginia just melted my heart! Their mom and dad are blessed indeed. I was **told** that Miss S was a bit more fiesty than her brother but they both were totally awesome throughout their entire portrait session. Mom, Dad and family have been patiently waiting for a sneak peek of this little pair since early in the week….so here they are!

This sweet family from Leesburg, Virginia brought their precious new baby girl in this week for some creative newborn portraits. Mom was lucky and was able to take advantage of a ”sqeeze-in” session for her 11 day old and all though this little princess was a bit more alert than our normal 5-7 day old newborns, we were still able to capture some precious images of her!
Love the peacefulness in the first image…reminds me of that saying; “she’s sleeping like a baby”. And, the second one - all though not intended to be “Christmassy” - reminds me of a tuckered out little Santa’s helper!
So, here are a couple of my favorite “your baby as {art}”™ captures as a sneak peek for her doting family! Please leave them some blog love below…

Oh baby! This little princess from Dulles, Viriginia came to the studio yesterday to have some portrait art created for her proud mommy. My goodness, Miss A had the most beautiful blue eyes! Her toothless grin and baby drool reminded me of just how fast little ones grow… weren’t mine just this age yesterday?
Be sure to leave some blog love for little Miss A’s family…I know they just adore her and you can see why!!

Oh my goodness, I have not had this much fun with one of my little subjects in quite a while. This little lad was the sweetest and most delightful little guy! His smile just lit up the studio. Here’s one of my favs…bet you can see why he was so much fun by the little sparkle in his eyes.
Feel free to leave comments for this little guy and his family!

I was thinking today about why it is that I enjoy working in my studio. As many of you know, my studio is in the lower level of my home so as is the case many days, I went upstairs to get some laundry and as I walked down the hall, I glanced over at the family portraits on the wall. I had one of those moments…no, not a senior moment, but the kind of moment when something of the past collides with the present and you realize why what you do is so important to you. You see, the walls of my hall upstairs are adorned with “My Family”. Not my children or my parents but my heritage, my family of the past. I have portraits of my grandparents, great aunts & uncles, my husband’s grandparents and more. They are in all different ages of life and I often stand in front of them and ponder what was going on in their lives at the time those images were captured? What hardships had they endured? What traits and characteristics have they passed down to me and my children?
Portraits from the past help to anchor us to our present and to the future. They give validity to where we have come from and why we are who we are…good or bad. I know for me personally, I am truly thankful for the spiritual heritage of my family…their faith, their prayers for the generations to come. It is humbling to think that some of those prayers are now coming to fruition. I am blessed…truly.
So, I thought I would “introduce” you to some of “My Family”…
